Production and release
The song is written, composed, directed and arranged by S.M. Entertainment's resident music producer, Kenzie, who has worked with Shinee since their debut days on many successful title songs to date. She also contributed the lyrics of the song.[2] "Green Rain" is a medium-tempo song which tells a "lesson of life that one develops after [facing] hard times."[3] While the TV drama series started airing on June 12, 2013, the song was released as a digital single only after the fourth episode aired in South Korea. It was made available for music download on June 28, 2013, through various online music portal sites including Daum, Naver, iTunes and Soribada.
Music video
On June 20, 2013, a preview of the accompanying music video of Shinee's "Green Rain" was uploaded on the official channel of S.M. Entertainment on YouTube. It featured the members of Shinee dancing with Ricky Kim and the younger cast members from the TV drama series The Queen's Classroom.[4] This was followed by another preview revealed on July 5, 2013, which also depicted some of the dramatic scenes from the series.[5] The back stage production footage was also released on July 29, 2013.[6] The full music video was finally unveiled on July 16, 2013.[7]
